I normally associate silk with being a luxe item and why not seeing that most often they do cost an arm and a leg – in my books they do. Like I said, what is affordable to some is really expensive for others – me namely. Which was why I had to break my “no shopping” rule when I found out Popbasic had released their Sunday collection, which included their main piece – the silk shirt. Not only was it silk, it was a BLUE silk shirt. The collection also included a white gold plated wishbone ring and bangle. For under $100, I was sold!
The package arrived sometime last week and what a welcome it was! I immediately opened the package to try out the shirt to not only check out the quality but the fit.
My verdict? It was more of a brushed silk than silk, but the quality was pretty good. I bought a size smaller and thankfully it fitted me well, especially around the bust area. It was comfortable to wear, but I’d suggest you get your usual size or a size up if you’re busty. The colour wasn’t as dark as I had hoped it would be. More of a slightly washed out navy than navy. Would have loved it had it been darker, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t happy with my shirt.
Here’s how I’ve styled the Sunday collection from Popbasic:

Sandals/Clogs from Target or similar **here
I could still wear it the way I styled it in the Popbasic style card (Yes! My styling suggestion was featured this time round!) or even in a slightly more smarter style with dress pants or skirt for work.
I have also styled it with a pair of black jeggings I bought from Forever21 previously. Yes, I know, some might say black and blue don’t go together, but really, you can tell I don’t really care. Thanks to Melbourne’s cooler temperatures, I just add a khaki parka I got from Trade Secret for a smarter yet still casual look .

Low cut boots was from Target, similar **here
Khaki parka from MK by Michael Korrs, similar **here
To brighten up this combo, I added a simple but bold coloured scarf.
Definitely a basic staple that I can work with what I’ve already got in my wardrobe! I’m joining in with Kimba Likes for her Wardrobe Wednesday, be sure to check out what the others have shared and why not join in with YOUR outfit of the week!
