Leather in summer – sounds like an oxymoron right? But I fell in love with this vegan leather skirt (a.k.a pleather) the moment it arrived on my doorstep. I was glad Popbasic decided to release their Pop pieces individually during the month of December and this vegan leather skirt was one of those pieces. Originally as part of the Ashbury collection, the skirt came with a black tank and a necklace. I didn’t purchase that collection because I’ve got enough black tank tops and I had already gotten that same necklace as part of another, previous collection. So, it was really a stroke of luck when I saw the announcement on their Facebook page.
The skirt arrived just in time for one of my date nights with Mr. C and I grabbed that opportunity to wear it out, even though we were in the middle of summer. Ok, I admit, that night was rather balmy – Melbourne had started to chill down a little, so it was the perfect time to wear this vegan leather skirt.
The Vegan Leather Skirt
I was surprised at how much nicer the skirt looked in the flesh too. An A-line shaped skirt, with slim panels sewn together to create an illusion of pleats. It also was rather light-weight, making it perfect for the slightly warmer weather and great for layering up with stockings during the colder months.

We were supposed to check out the Jaul-Paul Gaultier exhibition over at the NGV, so I decided to dress it up a little, pairing the skirt with Popbasic’s polka dot shirt. Another piece they released separately, which was initially from their Beta collection. Unfortunately, the exhibition was only open at nights on Fridays – DUH! Should not have skimmed through the website! But all was not lost, as Mr. C and I ended up just picking a random place to have our dinner anyway.

The second time I managed to wear this skirt was when I went to my first beauty event in 2015 – the Bioderma event. This time, I teamed the skirt with another piece also from Popbasic – the striped t-shirt, which I had bought from their Wanderlust collection. The chunky chain necklace also came with that collection and I thought it gave the outfit a slighty edgy feel. I finished off the girly aspect of the outfit with a pair of maroon gladiator t-bar shoes I had bought from my recent trip to Singapore last year.
I can’t wait to get a chance to wear this skirt again! It’s such a versatile piece that I can choose to dress up or down, wear in almost every season too!
